河流是连接流域和海洋的纽带，支撑着人类社会的生存和发展。大河流域是人类的集聚地，但流域社会经济的发展、引水筑坝、生态环保措施等改变了河流水质、水量和泥沙输运，影响了河口三角洲地区的可持续发展和近海水域的生态系统健康。如何在保证流域工、农业健康发展的同时，减少对河口和近海的负面影响，共同应对日益增强的气候变化带来的严峻挑战，需要来自流域、河口、近海的不同利益相关者加强交流。世界大河流域人口密集，经济活跃，面临着生态环境保护、气候变化应对和可持续发展等共同议题。为贯彻习近平总书记关于推动长江、黄河流域生态大保护和高质量发展要求，本次会议将在联合国海洋十年“大河三角洲计划”框架下，邀请来自全球不同流域、不同河口海岸区域的专家学者、管理人员和企业界人士，共同探讨陆海统筹的可持续发展应对方案。
同时，本届会议还将继续与上海市人民对外友好协会合作，举办“大河流域对话会”，今年将聚焦亚洲大河流域。

Rivers are crucial links between river basins and the sea, yet large river basins are often faced with flooding/draught, pollution, and sediment issues caused by climate change and human activities. Balancing economic development in these basins while mitigating negative impacts on the sea requires effective communication among scientists, policy makers, and practitioners from various sectors. This conference aims to bridge the gap between science and policy by facilitating such a dialogue.
Moreover, this year's conference will continue its collaboration with the Shanghai People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries to host the "Dialogue on Great River Basins." This year, the dialogue will focus on major rivers in Asia.
