The School of Marine Sciences, East China Normal University, invites applications to multiple faculty positions. All positions are open until filled.
1) Research and teaching positions:
Successful applicants will join the team associated with the State Key Laboratory of Estuarine and Coastal Research. A doctorate (Ph.D.), or with equivalent research experiences, is required in one of the following fields:
- Hydrodynamics and sediment dynamics
- Harbor, port and coastal engineering
- Estuarine and Coastal morphodynamics
- Marine geology
- Physical oceanography
- Chemical oceanography and biogeochemistry
- Biological Oceanography and Ecosystem Dynamics
- Coastal ecosystems and aquatic environments
- Estuarine and coastal observation system
- Numerical modeling
- Other relevant research topics
2) Scientific Paper Editor:
Scientists with strong background of Geography, Oceanography, Environmental Sciences or Ecology are encouraged to apply. Native English speaker level applicants with publication records and editorial board member experiences in internationally recognized journals are preferred. Basic salaries plus work load allowances will be provided.
Successful candidates for the above positions will be offered internationally competitive salaries based on qualifications and experiences, together with start-up research funds. There are also promotion opportunities if qualified during the contract period.

3) Research and Engineer positions at SKLEC-NIVA center
Marine and Coastal Researcher and Engineer Positions Available at SKLEC-NIVA Centre
SKLEC-NIVA Centre is a joint international research laboratory set up by State Key Laboratory of Estuarine and Coastal Research (SKLEC) at East China Normal University (ECNU) and Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA) studying on coastal and marine research on marine physics, biogeochemistry, ecosystems and ecosystem services with a focus on climate and environmental change. The Centre is led by Professor Richard Bellerby, a ‘Thousand Talents Plan’ expert. Both the Chinese and Norwegian sides provide investment, personnel and equipment for the Centre.
Professor, Associate Professor and Postdoctoral Researcher positions
We are looking for outstanding researchers with a proven record in interdisciplinary research in Chemical Oceanography, Marine Biogeochemistry, Marine Ecology, Biophysics, Remote Sensing and Ocean Observations. Applicants should have a PhD with a proven research record, should be flexible, independent, innovative and cooperative, and wish to work in a broad interdisciplinary scientific research group. You should be able to work in a team, but also independently. You are able to communicate easily in English, both verbally and in writing.
Marine instrument engineer/developer
We are looking for a highly qualified engineer to operate existing instrumentation and to develop novel instruments for ocean observations. The successful applicant will have experience in the operation and development of sensors for physical, environmental and/or biological monitoring, competent computer and sensor programming capability. Experience with responsibility for marine operations is an advantage.

4) Post Docs in Marine Sediment Dynamics and Physical Oceanography:
We are seeking two postdocs to join our group at the State Key Laboratory of Estuarine and Coastal Research (East China Normal University, China). The successful applicants are expected to work on 1) the modeling of sediment transport, geomorphology and depositional sequence in the estuarine coasts and continental shelves, and/or 2) the observations and analyses of turbulence close to the ocean bottom boundary layer. Qualified applicants must have a PhD degree, together with a strong research experience in marine geology and/or physical oceanography. Applicants with experience in numerical simulation and modeling skills, and/or in scientific accomplishments are preferred.
